Just when you thought the world was devoid of purity, innocence,
and beauty, along comes a girl like Maria. No pretensions, no fakery,
no arrogance. She is the perfect young girl, eager to mature, yet
pleased with her youth. Enjoy her vision.
And one can’t help but feel that only in Russia could one
find such a perfect specimen of girlish wonder. There, far in the
East, secluded in the woods, removed from the deadening hustle bustle
of the modern world, young girls still grow up pure and lovely.
There, they still wear old-fashioned silk and lace dresses. And
there, they still let those dresses drop, revealing the most perfect
feminine features any man has ever seen.
Maria is, in every sense, a rural girl. Her family still runs a
farm, which she works on. She actually goes out early in the morning
and milks the cows. In the summer she goes swimming in the creek
nearby. In the fall, there is the harvest. In the winter, she helps
her mama sew and pickle the crops. Then, in spring, with her flower
dress barely strung over her white shoulders, she bounces out into
the fields, full of curiosity and desire.
There’s also something very old-fashioned about Maria. She
doesn’t plan on going to college because she feels she can
get all the learning she needs from the books on the farm. All she
wants to do is help run the family business and enjoy life in the
country. And, most importantly, she’s saving herself for marriage.
Plenty of the local boys want to get a taste of her pristine perfection,
but she won’t let them until things have been properly arranged
between her lover and her father.
In other words, she’s a good little girl. And you can tell
that by the images to the left. Is it any wonder that the mother
of the Son of God was named Maria? Immaculate innocence bringing
forth divinity. You can see it all in the work of A. Slastyonoff.
